Inspired by earlier efforts by Associates Rebecca van Uitert and Molly Carey, Client Services Managers Jennifer Splinter and Miosoty ("Mia") Batista, Pro Bono Manager Barbara Camacho and four more Fragomen employees provided pro bono legal services at the immigrant family detention center in Artesia, New Mexico in December. Kudos to Partner Ethan Kaufman, Of Counsel Careen Shannon, and Assistant Paralegals Grace Hatamyar and Michael Castiglione (all from the New York office) for their service. Careen Shannon blogged about her experience for The Hill, the leading political newspaper and website in Washington, D.C. Molly Carey and Mia Batista were interviewed in Carolina Paralegal News about how they worked together as a lawyer-paralegal team. Eric Dominguez comments on his experience volunteering in Artesia on the The Law Professor Blog Network.
In late January 2015, Phoenix Associate Juan Carlos Flamand will volunteer his services for one week at the immigrant family detention center in Karnes, Texas.
