Hungary: EU Blue Card Now Expanded to Those with Technology Skills Instead of Education

Foreign nationals in certain information technology roles are now eligible for an EU Blue Card if they have at least three years of relevant professional experience (acquired in the previous seven years) regardless whether they have any relevant educational qualifications. Previously, to be eligible, such individuals needed relevant university-level education qualifications. Affected information technology roles include (among others): information technology managers; systems analysts and administrators; software and database developers and operators; and network and multimedia developers. These changes are part of Hungary’s implementation of the new EU Blue Card Directive.
