An ODI report estimates Ireland needs 30,000 to 60,000 tradespeople to meet the country's national retrofitting and housing targets. In an article published in The Irish Times, Partner Ángel Bello Cortés describes Ireland’s work permit system as “internationally respected” and proposes creating a sector-specific permit to attract more non-EEA tradespeople. He notes that visa pathways already exist and encourages the construction industry to engage with them fully.
