Kuwait: New Wage Payment and Protection System Launched
October 14, 2026
On September 28, 2026, Kuwait’s Central Bank (CBK) launched the Kuwait Wage Payment System. This new system provides a central platform for processing and monitoring private-sector salary payments through local banks for Kuwaiti and foreign national employees. It is also expected to support comparisons between transferred salaries and documented employment contracts (based on pre-launch reporting), and improves the security, reliability, efficiency, and transparency of wage payments through real-time monitoring of salary transfers. The system applies to private-sector employers of all sizes, with no minimum establishment-size requirement. Employers should confirm applicable requirements with their payroll bank and ensure payroll and employment records are accurate and consistent. Employers should also monitor guidance from CBK, the Public Authority for Manpower, and their payroll bank on implementation procedures, reporting requirements, and enforcement measures.
