About Kuwait

Whether your company is sending employees to Kuwait or expanding your worldwide footprint—Fragomen is here to help. Since 2014, our Team of experienced immigration professionals’ partners with businesses of all sizes to develop immigration strategies that can help you achieve your goals.

  • Kuwait’s immigration system provides limited options for employers of foreign nationals, and immigration laws allow a high level of discretion throughout the process. Requirements, processing times, employment eligibility and benefits for accompanying family members vary by visa classification.
  • Most foreign nationals require a pre-approved visa to enter Kuwait. They may apply for an e-visa via the Ministry of Interior online portal, generally granted for a single entry and allowing a stay of up to 30 days.  
  • Foreign nationals seeking short- or long-term employment in Kuwait must be sponsored by a Kuwaiti entity to secure a Work Visa and Residence Permit or a Commercial Visit Visa. A labor quota (labor file) is also required if the sponsoring entity is established in the Kuwait mainland. A work visa may only be issued once a labor quota that matches a candidate’s profile (job title, nationality, and gender) is available. Requirements vary for entities that operate in the Kuwait Direct Investment Authority free trade zone or free trade zone-like areas.
