Kuwait: Relaxed Residence Permit Transfer Rules for Certain Foreign Nationals

Foreign workers registered under government contracts are now permitted to transfer to the private sector, provided their government contracts have concluded, and both the previous and new employers consent to the transfer. Previously, such individuals had not right to transfer from a public to a private entity, and rather could only transfer to other public entities. Additionally, foreign nationals over 60 with a secondary school certificate or lower can now transfer their residence permit sponsorship from dependent sponsorship to a private sector employer sponsorship. Previously, this was not possible. This continues earlier liberalizing reforms for foreign nationals over 60.
