Peru: Operational Challenges Cause Widespread Immigration Processing Delays

The National Superintendence of Immigration is experiencing operational challenges amid staffing constraints, recent personnel restructuring and government transitions. 

As a result, the notification mailboxes used by immigration authorities to communicate official case updates, including requests for additional information, observations and adjudication decisions, have been unavailable for approximately six days. 

The disruption, together with broader staffing constraints and reduced availability of immigration services in Lima, is contributing to delays across most immigration processes in Peru, including both in-country and consular visa applications. There is currently no clear indication of when the notification system or related services will return to normal.  

Employers and foreign nationals should anticipate continued processing delays, which may affect work authorization and payroll start dates in the coming months. We are closely monitoring the situation and will report on relevant developments.
