Qatar/Japan: Mutual Visa Waiver Forthcoming

Effective April 2, 2023, nationals of Qatar holding an ordinary passport will be visa exempt for stays of up to 30 consecutive days in Japan; it is expected that this entry exemption will be restricted to visitors, while nationals of Qatar visiting Japan for other purposes, such as business and work, would still need to apply for the appropriate pre-arranged visa. Though the Qatar government has not yet published the related rules for Japanese nationals, it is expected that they will be reciprocally visa exempt for stays of up to 30 days in Qatar.
