Taiwan: Relaxed Exit & Entry Permit Requirements for Select Applicants Forthcoming
August 29, 2023
As of August 28, 2023, the Taiwanese government allows Mainland China national Exit & Entry Permit (EEP) applicants traveling to Taiwan for specific business purposes, such as Participating in Business Exhibitions, Attending Business Exhibitions and Business Study (which includes both accepting and providing training), to apply directly with the National Immigration Agency (NIA). However, Mainland China nationals whose sponsoring entity or activity purpose deals with certain high-tech industries, like the semiconductor sector, must first secure special approval from the relevant authorities before initiating an online EEP application with the NIA. Of these activities, Fragomen can assist with EEP applications for Business Study. The quotas for sending Mainland China nationals to Taiwan are based on annual revenue: companies earning less than NTD 10,000,000 can send up to 10 people; those with earnings between NTD 10,000,000 and NTD 50,000,000 can send up to 25; those earning between NTD 50,000,000 and NTD 100,000,000 have a quota of 50; and companies earning more than NTD 100,000,000 can send up to 100 people.
