Tico Times: Sixteen Costa Rican girls visit NASA Space Center

As part of the ‘Ella Es Austronauta’ (She Is an Astronaut) program, sixteen Costa Rican girls travelled to NASA’s Space Center in Houston, Texas. The initiative, supported by Fragomen, aims to break gender stereotypes and raise the percentage of women in STEAM.

The multi-part program features the immersion week at the Space Center and virtual sessions on emotional well-being, innovation, leadership and entrepreneurship in STEAM, the use of technology, and cyberbullying prevention. While at the Space Center, the participants have the opportunity to participate in rocket building challenges, lunar habitat designs and robotics space camp competitions.
