United Kingdom: Further Guidance Provided on EU Settlement Scheme Late Applications

UK authorities have expressly added ‘lack of awareness’ as a potential reasonable excuse under its guidance for accepting late applications under the EU Settlement Scheme (EUSS) The guidance, which is flexible in nature, sets out a non-exhaustive set of reasons which may provide grounds for the government to accept late applications. The original deadline for EUSS applications was June 30, 2021; however, UK authorities have since accepted late applications where they consider there to be reasonable grounds for doing so.
