United States: Haiti and Syria TPS Employment Authorization Extended Through July 10
July 1, 2026

At a glance
- Employment authorization documents for individuals granted Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Haiti or Syria have been extended through July 10, 2026, USCIS has announced.
- The brief extension comes in the wake of the Supreme Court’s recent decision allowing the Trump Administration to terminate TPS for the two countries.
The issue
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services is briefly extending the validity of employment authorization documents (EADs) issued under the Temporary Protected Status (TPS) designations for Haiti and Syria through July 10, 2026. The previous extension of EAD validity was set to expire today.
The announcement comes days after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the Trump Administration could proceed with its plan to terminate the TPS designations for the two countries. The affected EADs are being extended while lower courts take the necessary steps to implement the Supreme Court’s decision in the pending federal court challenges to the TPS terminations. Those cases are Miot et al. v. Trump et al., No. 25-cv-02471-ACR (D.D.C.) (Haiti) and Dahlia Doe v. Noem, 25-cv-8686 (S.D.N.Y.) (Syria).
