Winds Of Change: Offshore Wind Worker Concession Ending – Considerations and options post 30 April 2023
March 30, 2023 | 11:00 AM — 12:00 PM BST
In 2017, the Offshore Wind Workers Immigration Rules Concession (‘the Concession’) was introduced. The Concession provides leave to enter for workers classified as essential to the construction and maintenance of wind farms in UK territorial waters (whom would normally require UK work authorisation).
Now, after a series of 11th hour extensions, the Concession is set to end on 30 April 2023; it is critical that affected businesses regularise their workforces prior to this date. From 1 May 2023, foreign nationals currently working under the Concession will be subject to the UK’s immigration rules; action is required now to prevent illegal working issues beyond this date.
Please join Fragomen Senior Manager, Kelly Hardman and Associate, Evan Tutton for this informative session taking place on Thursday, 30 March discussing the considerations and options around the ending of the Concession. This session will cover the following:
1. A recap of the Concession
2. Options post 30 April 2023 for:
- Frontier Worker
- Sponsored Workers
- Skilled Worker
- GBM - Senior/Specialist Worker
- GBM - Service Supplier
- SOC Codes/ Shortage Occupation
- Business Visitor
- Non-sponsored options
3. The compliance angle:
- Sponsor licence considerations
- Right to work checks
4. Q&A and discussion
