Work Permit Quotas Announced for 2015
February 12, 2015
The Romanian work permit quota will be 5,500 for 2015, the government has announced. The new quota numbers became available on January 1, though the overall figures were just announced.
As in previous years, the overall 2015 quota will be allocated among several categories of work permits. Nine hundred work permits will be available to intracompany transferees, 800 to highly skilled foreign workers, and 3,300 to local hires. The remaining quota numbers will be set aside for other categories, such as interns, athletes and certain short-term workers.
A work permit application requires an available quota number, and the government will not accept work permit applications after the quota is exhausted.
What This Means for Employers
Employers may now apply under the 2015 quota to obtain work permits within each respective category.
