Andrea is a Senior Associate at Fragomen’s Florida office, where she advises a diverse client base, including colleges and universities, hospitals, research institutes, multinational companies, investors and entrepreneurs, on U.S. immigration law matters. Specifically, Andrea focuses her practice on preparing nonimmigrant and immigrant visa petitions on behalf of professors, researchers, physicians and other professionals, including O-1 visas for individuals of extraordinary ability, EB-1 visas for outstanding professors/researchers and National Interest Waivers, when applicable. She also advises international students on their visa options upon graduation and frequently presents a series of virtual and in-person webinars and presentations examining the immigration options for international student graduates and foreign medical graduates.

Andrea initially joined Fragomen as a Law Clerk, as part of FIU College of Law’s inaugural “residency-based” Semester-in-Practice program. Andrea returned to the firm following her graduation from law school.

During law school, Andrea served as an intern for the Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement office at the Krome facility, where she first-chaired various cases in deportation proceedings. She also served as an intern for the Miami-Dade Public Defender’s Office. Additionally, Andrea re-established and served as President of the Criminal Law Society at FIU College of Law. She was also a Staff Member and Senior Staff Member of the FIU Law Review, and a Teaching Assistant for the Legal Skills and Values II course.

Andrea’s pro bono work has included representing an undocumented minor from Honduras, who was in deportation proceedings and facing removal. Andrea successfully removed the case from deportation proceedings, and is in the process of obtaining U.S. permanent residence status on behalf of the minor in Special Immigrant Juvenile proceedings. She also assisted Cuban nationals with citizenship and has represented individuals from Nepal, Haiti, Venezuela, Ukraine, Afghanistan and other countries filing for Temporary Protected Status (TPS).

Andrea speaks English and Spanish.
