Jennifer leads the firm’s Miami office and provides counsel on all aspects of corporate U.S. immigration, including nonimmigrant visas, permanent residence, citizenship, I-9 audits and compliance, consular processing, wage and hour compliance, and ICE investigations. With a focus on the hospitality industry, she is also among a specific group of immigration attorneys with experience counselling clients on complex, ever-evolving H-2B visas—a category reserved for temporary or seasonal workers. As this sector of the economy continues its post-pandemic rebound, this visa class is crucial to counter hospitality labor shortages. Jennifer also works with luxury hotels helping them secure the important L-1 visas for the intra-country transfer of their talent.

Additionally, Jennifer serves as an advisor to companies in the following industries: civil engineering, paper manufacturing, advanced filtration materials, universities, travel services, corporate benefit solutions, supply chain solutions and marine refurbishment.

As a first-generation American herself, she has a tremendous appreciation for the human story behind every immigration case she handles. Her personal experience of assimilation, as well as being educated and living abroad, shaped her into who she is—both personally and professionally. It was the opportunity to live abroad in Singapore and Sri Lanka as a young adult that served as the impetus for Jennifer’s decision to attend law school.

Jennifer not only has a deep understanding of the industries she serves, but also of each of her client’s particular challenges and business objectives. She offers creative, customized solutions and acts as a true extension of the client’s human resources and global mobility teams. Her clients appreciate Jennifer’s extensive knowledge and sound counsel, but most importantly the empathy she displays toward each and every employee and their particular matter.

In her leadership capacity, Jennifer is focused on the growth of the Miami office. With its central location as a southern gateway into the United States and entry into Latin America and the Caribbean, it provides a number of opportunities for clients as they seek to set up and operate businesses and harness talent on either continent.

As a leader, Jennifer is proud of the culture of mentorship within the Miami office and knows the importance it plays in the career growth of younger lawyers. She credits her mentor for the positive experience of having three children while working toward becoming Partner.  Jennifer’s attentiveness to the development of Associates has won her rave reviews from her mentees and the Daily Business Review’s 2021 “Best Mentors” award. Localizing the firm’s global efforts, Jennifer also serves as the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion leader for the Miami office.

Jennifer is frequently invited to speak in various capacities such as training seminars for clients, professional organizations and academic institutions on immigration topics, including industry-specific processes, visa classifications and I-9 employment eligibility verification.

Fostering a deep belief in the effect of non-profits on communities, Jennifer has served in a number of roles within the YMCA, in the US and abroad, and is currently active in her church.
