Oishika is valued by clients for her ability to focus on the essentials of immigration challenges—risk assessment and management, compliance management and clear, effective communication.

She brings clarity to notoriously opaque and confusing immigration processes by building policy management frameworks that identify and call out potential difficulties so that clients can manage them ahead of time with minimum difficulty. She applies sophisticated data and trend analyses, industry benchmarking, employee feedback and the latest intelligence from within consulates and regulatory bodies to build sound policies that are as effective as possible while remaining flexible in the face of regulatory or economic change.

Clients value her ability to apply a wide-angle perspective to their non-immigration business processes and policies, through which she singles out unexpected threats to compliance and other immigration considerations. An effective manager, Oishika adopts this high-level strategic focus while her team ensures that program details are executed flawlessly.

Throughout her career, Oishika has worked with clients from a range of industries, including technology, consulting, manufacturing, healthcare, management consulting and biopharmaceuticals. She got her start at Fragomen as a core member of the firm’s Foreign Consular Practice (FCP) team in India and became a Partner in 2021. She has been practicing in the firm’s Chicago office since 2011.

She maintains a robust pro bono practice rooted in her background in human rights and refugee law. Early in her career, she worked with Amnesty International and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and assisted the senior attorney on the Supreme Court of India in high-profile litigation cases.

More recently, she has volunteered with Child Rights and You (CRY)—a nonprofit international human rights organization—where she spearheaded an anti-child labor campaign. She assists with individual pro bono casework through Fragomen’s pro bono practice, including Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) clients and asylum matters. She is also a proud contributor to Fragomen’s diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives.

Oishika speaks Bengal, English and Hindi.
