If you’re a foreign national looking to visit, live and/or work in Bangladesh, several options are available.
- Business Visits: As a business visitor and depending on your citizenship, you'll generally enter Bangladesh without a visa, or need to secure either the Category "B" Visa (Business Visa) or Category "T" Visa (Tourist Visa), dependent on the kind of business activities you intend to perform. The Category "B" Visa is suitable if you're conducting trade or commerce activities, while the Category "T" Visa is used for attending seminars, symposiums, or study tours. Both visas permit stays of 30 or 90 days.
- Work Authorization: The main work authorization categories are Employment "E" Visa, mainly for long-term assignments and extendable once you apply for a work permit application within 15 days of arrival; and the E1 Visa, for short-term assignments that involve installation, maintenance and supervisory work.
- Internships/Traineeships: There is no trainee-specific work authorization category in Bangladesh.
- Self-Employment: If you're an investor or entrepreneur, you may be eligible for a PI or B visa. The PI Visa is available to foreign capital investors looking to invest in or operate a commercial organization in Bangladesh. The B Visa is available to entrepreneurs or business representatives who wish to operate in Bangladesh.
