About Cyprus
Whether you’re looking to visit, live or work in Cyprus—we can support your immigration needs at every stage of your journey.
Cyprus is a member of the European Union. If you're a foreign national looking to visit, live, and/or work in Cyprus, several options are available.
- Business Visits: As a business visitor, depending on your citizenship, you'll generally enter Cyprus without a visa or need to secure a Business Visa from a Cypriot consular post before your travel. Business visits are limited to 90 days in a 180-day period and require a detailed support/invitation letter outlining the nature and duration of activities.
- Work Authorization: The main work authorization categories are the EU Intracompany Transferee (ICT) Permit, suitable for the intracompany transfer of managers, specialists, and trainees from outside the EU; and the Employment Permit for Local Hires, suitable for locally hired employees and intracompany transfers who do not qualify for an EU ICT Permit.
- Internships/Traineeships: If you're traveling to Cyprus as a trainee and have six months of prior employment with your company and a higher education degree, the EU Intracompany Transferee (ICT) Permit may be suitable. It can be granted for up to one year. The main criteria are prior employment with the company group, a suitable qualification, and a training program.
- Self-employment: Work authorization programs exist for potential investors or entrepreneurs in Cyprus. Permanent residence (Fast Track Program) requires a EUR 300,000 investment, among other requirements, employment is strictly prohibited. Cyprus also offers a one-year Digital Nomad permit for individuals employed abroad seeking to work remotely from Cyprus. There is a quota of 500 spots for this permit type. Foreign nationals with independent means earned abroad can also apply for permanent residence - Category F (Slow Track Program). The Start-Up Visa is also suitable for individuals or teams of up to five members wishing to reside and work in Cyprus to establish, operate, and develop a start-up with high growth potential.
Fragomen can also consult on citizenship matters and, as permitted within the confines of local law, may be able to offer citizenship assistance.
