Costa Rica: Exemptions to Police Clearance Certificate Requirement for Honduran Visitors Implemented

The General Immigration Directorate has implemented additional exemptions to the police clearance certificate requirement for Honduran nationals entering Costa Rica as visitors. In addition to the previous exemptions for transportation and diplomatic personnel and those transiting through airports, Honduran visitors may now be exempt from presenting a police clearance certificate if they hold an eligible visa or immigration status from another country. These include (1) a (multiple-entry) visa or legal residence in the United States or Canada (in any category except U.S. C1, C2, and C3 transit visas), valid for at least one day at the time of entry to Costa Rica; (2) legal residence in Iceland, Norway, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, or in any EU Member State (in any category except refugee status) that allows multiple entries or is valid for a minimum of 90 days at the time of entry to Costa Rica; and (3) a multiple-entry Schengen C or D Visa, valid for at least one day at the time of entry to Costa Rica.
