Financial Times: Scientists Charged Too Much to Come to Work in UK, Says Royal Society

Fragomen contributed visa cost data to a new published by The Royal Society examining the impact of visa and health surcharge costs on the UK’s ability to attract global scientific talent.

As reported by the Financial Times, the data compiled by Fragomen for the national science academy showed that the upfront cost of the UK’s five-year Global Talent Visa and Immigration Health Surcharge totals £5,941 — more than 20 times higher than the average across 14 other leading research nations.

Fragomen’s contribution helped The Royal Society demonstrate the financial barriers international researchers face and the need for a more competitive immigration framework to support the UK’s science and innovation goals.
