Additionally, Amit Sharma, former Head of Global and Digital Strategy & Ecosystem Growth at IDEMIA Public Security, has joined the joint venture to help advance its digital identity strategy and market engagement efforts.
The announcement follows the recent launch of the global strategic joint venture between Fragomen and SICPA, which was established to advance secure, interoperable digital identity solutions for governments, enterprises and individuals. By incorporating IDEMIA Public Security’s biometric identity verification and authentication technologies, the initiative further strengthens its ability to help governments and organizations combat identity fraud and establish trust in digital interactions across borders and digital environments.
"Creating trusted digital ecosystems requires more than technology alone. It demands secure identity verification, trusted credentials and real-world applications that solve meaningful operational challenges,” said Lance Kaplan, Fragomen Co-Chair. “Together with SICPA and through our collaboration with IDEMIA Public Security, we are bringing those capabilities together to help organizations strengthen security and compliance and provide individuals with ownership over their personal data."
The joint venture will deliver an end-to-end, standards-based platform that connects identity verification, verifiable credentials, document authentication, digital wallets, and credential lifecycle management within a single ecosystem. The platform will help governments, enterprises and individuals securely verify, manage, and share trusted information across borders and digital environments.
"As organizations operate across increasingly connected environments, the ability to establish trusted identity with a high degree of assurance becomes essential. Through our collaboration with Fragomen and SICPA, we are contributing trusted biometric verification and authentication capabilities to help strengthen the security, privacy and interoperability of digital interactions," said Virginie Flam, SVP, Smart Biometrics, IDEMIA Public Security.
"The future of digital identity depends on creating trusted ecosystems that balance security, privacy, interoperability and user control," said Amit Sharma. "Organizations around the world are looking for practical ways to modernize identity systems while addressing fraud and compliance—especially now in a world with artificial intelligence applications and more AI agents undertaking tasks on behalf of more people in highly regulated environments. Together Fragomen, SICPA and IDEMIA Public Security have formed a powerful foundation for addressing those needs, and bringing essential security and seamless digital interactions."
Sharma brings more than 25 years of experience working with governments, financial institutions, infrastructure organizations, and technology companies to advance digital identity, biometrics, and secure digital credentials. As Managing Director, Digital Identity, he will help guide engagement with enterprises and strategic partners as the firm's digital identity initiatives continue to evolve.
The Fragomen, SICPA and IDEMIA collaboration reflects growing demand from governments and organizations for interoperable, privacy-focused digital identity solutions that can operate across jurisdictions and regulatory frameworks while supporting trusted digital interactions and workforce mobility. It also reflects the ever-increasing need for trusted connections between public and private sectors, enabling end-to-end digital identity ecosystems.
