NEW YORK – September 29, 2022 – Fragomen, the world’s leading provider of immigration services, announces the launch of the Responsible Business Practices Group. The new practice, led by firm veteran Partner Lisa Koenig and supported by a global committee, aims to develop comprehensive global responsible business frameworks and initiatives across five key pillars of environmental, social and governance (ESG), corporate social responsibility, diversity, equity & inclusion, pro bono and well-being.
Specifically, Fragomen’s Responsible Business Practices group will focus on expanding on the existing initiatives related to the following:
- Diversity, Equity & Inclusion - Fostering an environment where all employees feel a sense of belonging and have equal opportunities for growth.
- Pro Bono - Serving the less fortunate by providing advice and community support where it is most needed.
- Corporate Social Responsibility - Considering the impact that our business decisions have on our people, our planet, the communities in which we work and our clients.
- Sustainability - Adopting policies aimed at improving efficiency, reducing consumption and waste, and reimagining the cleanest way to conduct our business.
- Well-being - Implementing firmwide initiatives that support the health and wellness of our people.
“Responsibility to our communities, each other and our planet is an ethos that has carried me throughout my entire personal and professional life. To have the opportunity to create a purpose-driven enterprise-wide method that further exemplifies who Fragomen is at the core is a dream come true,” said Koenig, who has been with the firm for 28 years, including the last 18 as a partner. “We look forward to continued collaboration with our clients, our pro-bono partners and others as we work together for the greater good of our society and our planet.”
“Our lawyers and professionals have always been committed to giving back and ensuring our values are present in every interaction we have. In addition to the services we provide, the way we do business is of great importance to our people and clients, so we considered carefully who was best placed to drive this important area.” said Austin Fragomen, the firm’s Chairman. “Lisa’s dedication to social justice, her long-time involvement in our pro bono efforts, and her in-depth knowledge of the firm and our business make her the perfect person to lead this group.”
Prior to this role, Koenig spent the bulk of her career practicing immigration law, representing corporate clients of all sizes across a variety of industries, with an emphasis on small and medium-sized businesses in the communications, media, advertising and professional services sectors. As a long-time member of the firm’s Pro Bono Committee, Koenig is deeply involved in shepherding the firm’s pro bono activities. She is a fierce advocate for a variety of causes, dedicating countless hours to social justice issues and is a frequent lecturer on a wide range of global business immigration law and diversity and inclusion topics.
