Malaysia: New Requirement for Position Titles to Match Approved FKW Projections Applications

The Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) has implemented a new requirement for companies under its jurisdiction to ensure position titles submitted for the Employment Pass (EP) applications match those approved in the Foreign Knowledge Worker (FKW) Projection applications. Fragomen can support in tracking position titles and facilitating any necessary changes, minimizing potential delays or complications in the approval process for foreign employees. If a company's EP application position title is not on the approved FKW Projection list, the company may need to submit a formal request to MDEC to change the approved FKW Projection to the desired new position title for the EP application. Alternatively, the company must apply for an additional FKW Projection for the specified position title before MDEC can process and approve the EP application, which can add significant time to the application process.
