Netherlands: Transit Schengen Visa Required for Certain Turkish Nationals Starting December 1, 2022

Effective December 1, 2022, most Turkish nationals will require a transit Schengen visa if traveling to a country outside the European Union and Schengen area via the Netherlands, where previously a transit or Schengen visa was not necessary. Transit Schengen Visas can be obtained at any consular post in a Schengen country; in this case, visas will be granted by the Dutch authorities in Türkiye to certain Turkish nationals. This requirement does not apply to Turkish citizens holding a valid Schengen visa, long-term visa or residence permit issued by a country in the Schengen area, Andorra, Canada, Japan, San Marino or the United States, or to family members of EU, European Economic Area or Switzerland, among others. Note, this applies to affected Turkish nationals even if the plane ticket was bought before December 1, 2022.
