
A new online system for scheduling Garda National Immigration Bureau (GNIB) card appointments at the Burgh Quay Registration Office in Dublin was launched this morning, with appointments available on or after September 15. All visits to the Registration Office on or after September 15 will have to be scheduled online in advance.
Foreign nationals applying for cards at GNIB offices outside of Dublin cannot use this online system and should continue using the appointment system in place with their local offices.
Appointment System Reminders
Appointments are offered in one-hour time slots. Once an appointment is scheduled, a confirmation email is sent containing a link to a list of required documents and overview of the process. Going forward, Fragomen’s instructions to foreign nationals will reflect this change and guide them through the new process.
What This Means for Employers and Foreign Nationals
Foreign nationals should benefit from the new online appointment scheduling system since it will eliminate the need for long waits at the Registration Office in Dublin (located at 13-14 Burgh Quay, Dublin 2) and should remove the uncertainty involved with the current queuing and ticketing system.
