People Management: Lawyers warn of ‘cost’ and ‘complexity’ as foreign national interest in UK jobs rises

Foreign interest in roles across the United Kingdom has more than doubled since the launch of the country's post-Brexit immigration system. Launched in January 2023, the system is designed to prioritise getting skilled workers into important industries, such as science and research, with provisions for typically difficult-to-hire hard-to-hire sectors, such as social care. 

However, Partner Natasha Catterson cautions businesses interested in hiring foreign talent that navigating the hiring process can be both complicated and expensive.
