Republic of Congo/Rwanda: Reciprocal Tourist and Business Visa Waiver Agreement Implemented
October 12, 2023
Effective September 15, 2023, the Republic of Congo and Rwanda have signed a reciprocal visa agreement which will allow travel for each other’s nationals to each other’s countries without applying for a business or tourist visa. Ordinary passport holders from both countries can enter the other country visa-free for stays up to 90 days; holders of diplomatic or service passports may enter the other country visa-free for stays not exceeding 90 days in a 180-day period. The reciprocal visa agreement does not permit the right to work, but nationals of both countries may apply for a residence permit before the 90-day period expires. This visa waiver agreement between the two countries expands the list of countries of Rwanda’s current visa scheme program that is already in place and is meant to facilitate travel and trade between the countries, as well as to encourage tourism and investment.
