In this article published in The Irish Times, Director Colm Collins comments on the Irish government's decision to expand the work permit scheme, which covers the recruitment of workers from outside the European Economic Area.
The changes being implemented involve higher salary thresholds for permit holders and include 43 new roles within the system. Some salaries will rise by more than a quarter.
Colm notes that, while the review of the system is welcome, the timing and significance of these changes to the scheme could cause issues for some companies, potentially sparking a rush to submit renewals early in 2024 before the new rules take effect.
