Stricter In-Person Requirements for Long-Term Visa Applicants at One Stop Service Center
November 8, 2016
Effective immediately, Long-Term Visa applicants and their dependents filing new and renewal visa applications at the One Stop Service Center (OSSC) must personally appear before the authorities during two new points of the visa application process, which can take up to four hours per visit.
A personal appearance is now required during the following steps:
-
To obtain the queue number that starts the application process; and
-
After the application is reviewed, to meet with the Head of the Visa Section to sign the visa approval.
Previously, the OSSC allowed a representative to obtain queue numbers in advance on behalf of visa applicants, and to submit applications and passports for initial review.
This rule does not apply to applications filed at the Board of Investment.
What This Means for Foreign Nationals
Foreign nationals should be prepared to appear at the OSSC twice during their visa application process, and should contact their immigration professional for assistance with the application process.
