Ángel is a Partner in Fragomen’s Dublin office and oversees a large team of immigration professionals which assists a diverse client base comprised of multinational corporations, local and global SMEs, start-ups and private clients.

Ángel has 20 years of professional experience in Irish immigration and citizenship matters. He is admitted as a Solicitor in Ireland and uses his deep understanding of the Irish immigration system to provide strategic advice to companies in the establishment, maintenance and enhancement of their Irish operations from an immigration perspective. This has included crisis management and planning during Brexit, COVID-19 and the Ukraine crisis. He has also provided advice to international organizations and State bodies.

Bringing together his own passion for immigration and know-how regarding business and personal immigration matters, Ángel and his team help clients solve both routine and complex, broader challenges. Ángel and his team pride themselves on being able to serve as an extension of the clients’ in-house global mobility, immigration and HR teams. Their approach also seeks to provide the best possible employee experience, while ensuring compliance and demystifying the immigration process for all parties involved.

Fragomen’s Irish practice is comprised of a large specialist team of immigration professionals with many diverse backgrounds within the immigration and mobility ecosystem, and this enables the Irish team to provide holistic capabilities and knowledge to their varied client base. Additionally, in line with the firm’s longstanding commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, Fragomen Ireland has established successful initiatives to help ensure each of the practice’s 80-plus employees feel represented and included. With 23 nationalities and over 25 languages spoken and given Ireland’s strategic important to many of the firm’s worldwide clients, Fragomen Ireland is a microcosm of the global organization.

Prior to joining Fragomen, Ángel established and headed the immigration practice of a leading rights-based Irish law firm. During that time, he conducted litigation at all levels of the Irish Courts, being the instructing solicitor in several landmark High and Supreme Court immigration and citizenship cases, including a reference to the Court of Justice of the European Union.

Ángel has been a guest lecturer at the Law Society of Ireland’s Certificate in Immigration Law and Practice since 2019.

Experience

Provided strategic advice to several multinational clients in the context of their Irish operations, including Brexit-related mergers and moves, and crisis management and planning during COVID-19 and the Ukraine crisis.

Provided advice and representation regarding all aspects of Irish immigration and citizenship, liaising with all relevant government Departments, the Garda National Immigration Bureau (GNIB) and Irish embassies.

Involved in several Irish landmark judgments in immigration law, including Supreme Court rulings and a preliminary reference to the Court of Justice of the European Union.

Provided advice to State bodies, international organizations and pro bono support to a number of non-governmental organisations (NGOs).
