About Cameroon
Whether you’re looking to visit, live or work in Cameroon—we can support your immigration needs at every stage of your journey.
If you're a foreign national looking to visit, live, and/or work in Cameroon, several options are available.
- Business Visits: Depending on your citizenship, you'll generally enter Cameroon for business visits without a visa, or you'll need to secure a Short-Stay Visa, generally valid for six months. You can apply for a Long-Stay Visa for assignments beyond this range, valid for 12 months. Both of these options offer either single or multiple entries. To extend your stay, you should exit Cameroon and apply for a new visa at a Cameroonian consular post with jurisdiction over your country of residence.
- Work Authorization: The main work authorization category is split into two pathways: the Long-Stay Visa, valid for up to six months, and the Work Contract, valid for two years with one extension available. You must first apply for a Long-Stay Visa before travel, and once you are in Cameroon, apply for a Work Contract. You may start working in Cameroon once you submit your application and receive the Récipissé de dépôt, also known as a receipt.
- Internships/Traineeships: There are no trainee/intern-specific work authorization programs in Cameroon.
- Self-employment: There are no work authorization programs dedicated to potential investors or entrepreneurs.
Fragomen can also consult on citizenship matters and, as permitted within the confines of local law, may be able to offer citizenship assistance.
