If you’re a foreign national looking to visit, live, and/or work in Egypt, several options are available.
- Business Visits: While there is no business-specific visa category, you should obtain a consular-issued visit visa or a regular work permit for longer travel where hands-on activities may be involved. In some exceptional cases, you can carry out your activities based on a visa-on-arrival or a pre-arranged visit visa if the host entity submitted a special notification letter to the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) who acknowledge it; these approvals are highly discretionary and for short-term visits only.
- Work Authorization: The main work authorization category is the Work and Residence Permit, valid for twelve months where the approval is granted in two six-month increments. Extensions are available beyond three cumulative years (at the discretion of MOM/GAFI) and in six-month increments.
- Internships/Traineeships: There is no trainee-specific work authorization category.
- Self-employment: There are no work authorization programs for potential investors or entrepreneurs.
