Australia’s hospitality and accommodation sectors heavily rely upon the employment of foreign nationals across a wide range of occupations given the current skills and workforce shortages.
With many of these employees on non-sponsored temporary visas, employers need to have a good understanding of the work conditions and limitations of the various types of visas available.
The Australian Border Force is also increasing its level of immigration compliance activities, and having a robust internal framework in place to mitigate risks of non-compliance is critical, particularly given the proposed laws that the Government is seeking to introduce.
Please join Fragomen Partner, Sasko Markovski, Special Counsel, Charles Johanes and Associate, Stephanie Nikolovski, for a webcast where they will unpack and discuss:
- Common non-sponsored temporary visas and their work conditions
- Best practices when it comes to employing foreign nationals, and alternative immigration programs to consider as part of your workforce strategy.
- Do’s and don’ts if the Australian Border Force visits your premises
- What you need to know about proposed migration program reforms, including student visa changes, migrant worker exploitation laws and possible introduction of an industry labour agreement
