Fragomen made a drastic jump in The American Lawyer’s 2016 Pro Bono Rankings of National Firms by moving from 143rd to 44th place, highlighting the firm’s commitment to giving back to the community. The exclusive pro bono survey by the publication assessed the commitment of Am Law 200 firms to pro bono work each year.
In a supporting article, The American Lawyer recognized Fragomen as the firm “…that made the largest improvement in rank…helping people throughout the globe navigate the U.S. immigration system.”
Last year, Fragomen’s pro bono practice and our US attorneys provided more than 15,000 pro bono hours of service.
Some of the projects that our firm undertook included representing unaccompanied minors, asylum seeking families held in a detention center in Dilley, Texas, and helping achieve stability for LBGT and HIV-positive immigrants. Globally, our firm has assisted undocumented individuals in Mexico and the United Kingdom, and refugees in Australia.
More details about our 2015 pro bono initiatives may be found in our semiannual Pro Bono Newsletter.
The American Lawyer scores are based on a combination of the average number of pro bono hours per lawyer in 2015 and the percentage of lawyers who performed more than 20 hours of pro bono work.
