Kenya: Relaxed Entry Requirements for Some Nationals and Forthcoming Pre-Screening System

On May 30, 2025, the Kenyan government published an official gazette announcing that most African nationals, along with certain non-African nationals, are no longer required to obtain an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) online before traveling to Kenya for business or tourism. Instead, eligible travelers may now present a valid passport upon arrival to receive an entry stamp. Depending on nationality, these individuals are permitted a maximum consecutive stay of either 60 or 90 days. East African Community (EAC) nationals, who were never required to obtain an ETA, continue to enjoy a six-month stay for tourism or business. Separately, the government plans to implement the long-anticipated Advanced Passenger Information/Passenger Name Record (API/PNR) system to pre-screen foreign nationals entering, departing, or transiting through the country in the coming months.
