The Migration Department is now requiring Lithuanian nationals who notify the Migration Department that they have obtained another citizenship, in instances where the Migration Department does not have information on whether the individual is entitled to dual citizenship, to submit evidence proving their right to dual citizenship within three months. However, individuals may be able to extend this amount of time by an additional two months if they submit a request explaining why they need the extra time to produce the information. Previously, these individuals had six months to provide the information and could not extend the time. Further, the decision regarding whether the individual can keep their Lithuanian citizenship or will lose it will be announced online showing the following information on the individual: full name, date of birth and country of birth. Less information will be shown for minors.
