The Ministry of Manpower has expanded the requirement for foreign nationals to provide their personal contact information on the Employment Pass online portal in order to apply, receive, or renew a work pass for the following additional pass categories: Training Employment Pass, Dependant Pass, and Long-Term Visit Pass. Previously, this requirement only applied to Employment Pass and S Pass holders.
The situation
The Ministry of Manpower (MOM) has expanded the requirement for foreign nationals to provide their personal contact information on the Employment Pass online portal in order to apply, receive, or renew a work pass for the following additional pass categories:
- Training Employment Pass;
- Dependant Pass; and
- Long-Term Visit Pass.
A closer look
- Contact information. The following personal contact information needs to be provided:
- Email address, for initial applications;
- Both email address and Singapore mobile number, for renewal or issuance of passes; and
- If the pass holder does not have a Singapore mobile number, the local mobile number of the company’s human resources manager or a Singaporean resident may be provided instead.
- Background
- Previously, this requirement only applied to Employment Pass (EP) and S Pass holders.
- According to the MOM, the contact information is needed to allow pass holders to receive important update during emergencies or other pass-related matters.
- Contact information updates. Pass holders should also update their profile information in MOM’s EP online portal whenever they change their residence or contact information within 14 days of the change. Failure to comply with this rule may result in penalties.
- Impact on foreign nationals. Applications may be delayed if the appropriate contact information is not provided, and foreign nationals may miss important updates during emergencies.
