Consular Services

Ease the burden of immigration consular visa processing.

In the last few years, filing applications and completing immigration processes at embassies has grown more necessary—and more challenging—than ever.

Consulates, embassies and other diplomatic posts worldwide are an integral part of the every-day immigration process for many employees and their families. These processes can also differ from work permit processes and cause confusion. We get it—the idea of interacting with officials at diplomatic posts can be downright daunting—especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.

At Fragomen, we assist many types of immigration consular processes. While other firms focus only on destination country assistance, our approach is different. We tailor our flexible services to meet the unique requirements of the employee’s home AND host countries. We listen to your company’s needs and then put a plan into action to get your employees where they need to go.

Here’s how:

Experienced visa and consular team.

We have a large, highly experienced and dedicated team of professionals located strategically around the globe who can help ease the burden of complex consular visa processes in the majority of countries worldwide. We have in-depth knowledge of consular and embassy trends and logistics and can demystify the process and reassure employees with personalized home country and host country support.

Personalized consular support, every step of the way.

Full-service immigration support is not as simple as just preparing the proper documentation.

Located in the same time zone as visa applicants, our visa and consular service teams have considerable experience with complex queries and filings, as well as providing a heightened level of support for senior executives and leadership applicants. They help alleviate stress and consular processing concerns by providing holistic and practical advice, step-by-step instructions and personalized guidance and support for consular visa processes and requirements. They provide a true end-to-end service between work permit, visa and entry.

A full range of consular services, all over the world.

Depending on the jurisdiction, our consular services may include:

    • Consulting on visa eligibility and options, procedures at diplomatic posts and corporate strategy
    • Identification of red flags and risk assessments
    • Project management of large groups
    • Comprehensive guidance throughout the consular process, including:
        • Booking appointments, where permitted (including expedite requests, emergency requests and calendar monitoring)
        • Assisting with complex cases
        • Advising on logistics and quarantine/immigration restrictions (both for temporary and permanent categories)
        • Preparing visa applications
        • Making fee payments
        • Assisting with gathering and authenticating necessary supporting documentation
        • Filing visa applications, where permitted
        • Attorney preparation of applications for interviews
    • Ability to Liaise with local posts to support your company’s compliance with current processes, procedures and documentary requirements
    • Expedited and high-touch services, where permitted
    • Compliance assessments
    • Guidance on compliance with destination country immigration laws and regulations
    • Sharing the latest news, resources and updates about consular operations

Fragomen’s Dedicated U.S. Consular Practice

Other U.S. immigration firms only focus on securing an employee’s inbound work permit—to the potential detriment of the entire process. We look beyond destination country assistance, offering flexible, bespoke support for visa applications and other matters filed at U.S. Consulates and Embassies around the world.

Our U.S. Consular Practice is one of the largest groups of U.S. international immigration lawyers in the world. Staffed by U.S. attorneys with unmatched immigration experience, this group eases the burden of complex U.S. Consular processes in countries worldwide, helps to resolve complex issues and offers hand-held support to senior executives and leaders. Our U.S. Consular practice also has a laser-like focus on consular trends and logistics, which helps to clarify and facilitate the process for traveling employees.

Our professionals are active on several American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) committees and have held executive positions. We also have local government liaison teams, staffed by ex-consular officers.

The U.S. consular system became dysfunctional during the COVID-19 pandemic and is unlikely to return to pre-pandemic normalcy even after applicable COVID restrictions expire for Schengen countries. This can disrupt your company’s ability to get someone who doesn’t have a visa (or the right visa) for the U.S. into the U.S. if they aren’t already there.

Our U.S. Consular Practice considers this problem holistically and searches for both systemic and individual solutions. Unlike other firms, we can litigate unreasonable consular delays and challenge some consular refusals and systemic misconduct or neglect within the system.

We offer platinum, gold and silver service models tailored to meet your needs. This includes assistance for:

    • Visa applications (both temporary and permanent visas, including family-based filings)
    • Assistance with denied applications and strategy to re-file
    • Assistance with E visa company filings
    • Complex case assistance including for inadmissibility issues, including Advisory Opinions to Washington
    • Abandonment of permanent residence
    • Passport and citizenship applications and renunciation of citizenship
    • Consular report of birth
    • Group processing
    • Business visa support and assistance with denials
