Healthcare Industry

Believing in the mission

As COVID ravaged the globe, immigration for most industries was drastically decreased or shut down altogether. However, certain critical occupations were exempted from travel restrictions, none more notably than healthcare professionals—whose mission placed them at the center of the pandemic response.

Fragomen became a champion of the industry as it secured critical personnel/national interest exemption waivers for doctors, nurses, researchers and other professionals who joined the battle against the pandemic. It was a testament to our belief in the healthcare mission, but also to our ability to find the swiftest, safest route for our clients to move their personnel under extraordinary circumstances.

The back-end minutiae of government regulation make healthcare immigration a treacherous endeavor. Elaborate occupation classifications, doubts about which disciplines fall within the category, mandatory clinical examinations—the opportunities for error are many. The COVID-19 epidemic and, in the European context, Brexit, have massively disrupted the healthcare labor market. This is especially true regarding caregivers who work with the elderly and disabled.
