Healthcare Industry

Medical organizations—the beating heart of the healthcare sector—have historically handled almost all of their immigration needs in-house. But several jurisdictions across the globe have experienced unexpected changes in regulatory policy, leading to structural changes that have significantly increased compliance risk.

Fragomen stepped up to the challenge, working with organizations to establish efficient, compliant immigration programs, interacting on their behalf with government-mandated liaisons, or providing general advice while managing their most difficult immigration cases.

Or all of the above.

The partnership we forge with each of these clients is tailored to their unique needs—and can grow and change along with local policy, volume of work or any other vector affecting immigration.

We also serve as a trusted advisor to other healthcare players, offering bespoke service options to individual doctors and practitioners, healthcare personnel recruiters, related research organizations, pharmacy benefit management companies, medical device manufacturers and healthcare services providers.

Clients value us for:

Believing in the mission

As COVID ravaged the globe, immigration for most industries was drastically decreased or shut down altogether. However, certain critical occupations were exempted from travel restrictions, none more notably than healthcare professionals—whose mission placed them at the center of the pandemic response.

Fragomen became a champion of the industry as it secured critical personnel/national interest exemption waivers for doctors, nurses, researchers and other professionals who joined the battle against the pandemic. It was a testament to our belief in the healthcare mission, but also to our ability to find the swiftest, safest route for our clients to move their personnel under extraordinary circumstances.

Knowing what will go wrong

The back-end minutiae of government regulation make healthcare immigration a treacherous endeavor. Elaborate occupation classifications, doubts about which disciplines fall within the category, mandatory clinical examinations—the opportunities for error are many. Getting any of these details wrong presents significant risks in time, money and wasted effort.

Through careful, proactive auditing, Fragomen helps clients identify hidden risks and ensure their processes and programs are air-tight. Most importantly, we’re ready to develop new, comprehensive auditing programs whenever the market or local governments provoke unexpected change.

Undeniable Success

Helping clients create comprehensive immigration programs that process high case volume is meaningless unless success rates are high. And getting healthcare immigration right is no easy task—the industry contains multitudes of employee segments, from high-profile surgeons to administrative staff to students and every position in between.

Fragomen is proud of its impressive success rate with every healthcare-related category, including workers with extraordinary abilities, researcher applicants, critical infrastructure and national interest related personnel, and students interested in transitioning to full workers.

Bringing the industry together

Unexpected changes in government posture towards the industry, the COVID pandemic, Brexit—large, unpredictable forces have hit the sector hard. Questions abound, and clients—especially those accustomed to handling immigration in-house—need answers fast.

Our industry-focused round table discussions, conferences and other events bring healthcare companies and organizations together to identify and grapple with immigration challenges as they arise.

Fragomen also works with local authorities to offer crucial pro bono support. We’ve created free instruction manuals and other guides that help breakdown and simplify immigration processes for the individual, unaffiliated healthcare practitioner—an audience often overwhelmed by the immigration process. And we’ve also worked with non-profits such as Talent Beyond Boundaries, where we’ve processed visas for refugees and other displaced persons whose medical skills are desperately required around the globe.

Handling the flood of elder- and disabled-care needs

The COVID-19 epidemic and, in the European context, Brexit, have massively disrupted the healthcare labor market. This is especially true regarding caregivers who work with the elderly and disabled.

Visa applications for elder- and disabled-care workers are increasing drastically and will continue to do so in the near future. Fragomen is ready to meet the challenge. By streamlining the processes with our cutting-edge technology, we help clients work through large volumes of applications quickly and compliantly.
