Congratulation to Fragomen’s Christian Dallman for being recognized as the Pro Bono Attorney of the Year by the World Relief DuPage/Aurora’s (WRDA) Immigrant Legal Services (ILS) program.
This is the first time the organization is presenting this award. The award honors Christian for his dedication and commitment to serving the immigrant community in the Greater Chicago area. Christian was unanimously chosen by the ILS team, which took into consideration the number of times he had volunteered, his engagement with WRDA’s clinic model/tools, his demeanor with clients and his reliability.
Since 2014, Fragomen in Chicago has partnered with WRDA—a non-profit organization in the western suburbs of Chicago—to provide legal assistance to members of the immigrant and refugee community. For the past three years, Fragomen partners and associates have conducted numerous legal screenings at WRDA’s citizenship and DACA clinics, constituting 80% of WRDA’s current pro bono attorney volunteers.
WRDA’s citizenship and DACA clinics are conducted both at its offices and at external sites. During these clinics, Fragomen’s attorneys screen applicants to ensure that they meet the legal requirements for the requested category and to determine if they may be eligible for an alternative form of legal benefit or relief. With the help of Fragomen’s attorneys, WRDA is able to serve up to 100 applicants per clinic. In fact, through its citizenship and DACA clinics over the past two years, WRDA has served 975 clients applying for citizenship and 633 applying for DACA benefits.
As the immigrant population in the western suburbs of Chicago continues to grow, Fragomen attorneys aim to provide continuous support to WRDA to satisfy the rising demand among low-income immigrants who require the services of qualified immigration attorneys.
