About Macau SAR
Whether you’re looking to visit, live or work in Macau—we can support your immigration needs at every stage of your journey.
If you’re a foreign national looking to visit, live and/or work in Macau SAR, several options are available.
- Business Visits: As a business visitor and depending on your citizenship, you'll generally enter Macau SAR without a visa, apply on arrival, or need to secure a Visitor Visa from a Macau consular post before your travel. The trip can range from seven days to one year.
- Work Authorization: The main work authorization category is the Work Permit and a temporary residence authorization called an "Authorization to Stay for Non-Resident Workers," which is issued along with a Non-Resident Worker's Identification Card (commonly referred to as a Blue Card). The Work Permit can be granted for up to 24 months, at the discretion of the immigration authorities. The Blue Card validity period either corresponds to the Work Permit or 30 days before the expiration date of your travel document - whichever is shorter.
- Internships/Traineeships: There are no trainee/intern-specific work authorization categories in Macau.
- Self-employment: If you're an investor or entrepreneur, you may qualify for the Investment Residency Scheme. You must have major investment plans that are beneficial to Macau SAR's economy; these plans are also under the discretion and assessment of relevant authorities. The residency authorization can be granted for up to one year and is renewable in two-year increments.
Fragomen can also consult on citizenship matters and, as permitted within the confines of local law, may be able to offer citizenship assistance.
