Lithuania is a member of the European Union and the Schengen Area. If you're a foreign national looking to visit, live, and/or work in Lithuania, there are a few options.
- Business Visits: As a business visitor, depending on your citizenship, you'll generally enter Lithuania without a visa or need to secure a Schengen C Visa from a Lithuanian consular post before your travel.
- Work Authorization: If you're seeking to work in Lithuania, the main work authorization categories are the EU Intracompany Transferee (ICT) Permit, suitable for transfers of managers, specialists, and trainees and issued for up to three years and the EU Blue Card, ideal for highly skilled local hires and issued for up to three years.
- Internships/Traineeships: If you're interested in a training program, you can use a three-month work permit waiver, or if you're a graduate, you can obtain an EU Intracompany Transferee (ICT) Permit for intracompany traineeships.
- Self-employment: If you're an investor or entrepreneur, you may be eligible for a Start-up Visa, which can be used to establish an innovative start-up in Lithuania (such as for new technology) that will contribute to the social and economic development of the country. Your business plan, start-up funding, and qualifications will be reviewed during the application process.
