Andrew Greenfield, managing partner of Fragomen's Washington, D.C. office and a member of the firm's Executive Committee, has been reappointed to the board of Brand USA, a public-private partnership responsible for launching the nation's first ever nationally coordinated tourism-marketing effort. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker first appointed Greenfield to the board in 2014.
In fulfilling the Congressional requirement that one U.S. immigration lawyer be appointed to the board, Greenfield will continue to advise on U.S. admission policies and immigration procedures in support of Brand USA's mission to maximize the economic and social benefits of international travel to the United States. Greenfield serves as the board's secretary, immigration law and policy advisor, and a member of the board's finance committee.
"We look forward to continuing to work with Andrew as a member of our board of directors. Over the past three years, Andrew's legal expertise, understanding of the travel facilitation space, and global perspective have benefited Brand USA as we continue to advance our role as the nation's destination marketing organization," said Christopher L. Thompson, Brand USA president and CEO. "His guidance is invaluable as we work to effectively communicate U.S. visa and entry policies to the millions of international visitors we welcome to the USA each year."
"We commend Secretary Pritzker and Brand USA on the reappointment of Andrew Greenfield to the Brand USA board of directors. Having dedicated his career to immigration law, Andrew has decades of experience shaping, interpreting and applying immigration policy. He understands and appreciates the opportunities - and the immigration challenges - that accompany international travel, and we know that he will continue to use his knowledge to contribute to Brand USA's mission," said Austin Fragomen, chairman of the firm's Executive Committee.
Established by the Travel Promotion Act in 2010, Brand USA seeks to expand international travel to the U.S. while educating travelers about U.S. entry and exit policies and procedures. The organization works in close partnership with more than 600 organizations to maximize the economic and social benefits of travel, including job creation and the fostering of understanding between people and cultures around the world.
"I'm privileged to continue serving alongside an exceptional group of travel industry executives and other professionals working to enhance the American economy by inspiring U.S. tourism," Greenfield said. "As an immigration attorney who's spent my career advising businesses and their employees on the complex and often confusing rules that impact and influence travel to the United States, I remain committed to supporting Brand USA's efforts to communicate and help the worldwide traveling public comply with U.S. immigration policies and procedures."
In addition to leading Fragomen's office in the nation's capital, Greenfield counsels domestic and multinational employers across industries on U.S. immigration and nationality law, regulation, policy and compliance, as well as global immigration program management. He counsels clients on visa and work permit matters and on the immigration consequences of mergers and acquisitions and other corporate reorganizations, as well as I-9/E-Verify, H-1B/LCA and PERM compliance. He also advises international treaty organizations, their officers and employees, on the application and limitations of diplomatic privileges and immunities, related State Department law and policy, and U.S. work authorization and residency planning for the diplomatic community. He is regularly recognized as one of the nation's top immigration attorneys by independent authorities such as Chambers USA, Best Lawyers in America, Legal 500, Who's Who Legal and Legal Times. Washingtonian magazine named him one of Washington's top lawyers.
"We are proud that Andrew has chosen to continue this important work, which has wide-reaching effects on the millions of international travelers who visit the U.S., the jobs supported by the tourism industry and the global economy," Fragomen said. "In our view, promoting effective immigration policies helps better our society, and we're delighted when our partners share their knowledge and experience with organizations that are committed to having a positive impact on the world. We look forward to seeing all that Andrew and Brand USA will continue to accomplish."
