About Guyana
Whether you’re looking to visit, live or work in Guyana—we can support your immigration needs at every stage of your journey.
If you're a foreign national looking to visit, live, and/or work in Guyana, some options are available.
- Business Visits: As a business visitor, depending on your citizenship, you'll generally enter Guyana without a visa or need to secure a single-entry Visitor Visa on Arrival. If you require a visa to enter Guyana for business, you should be prepared to show the original visa pre-approval notice, the original visa application form, the original government fee payment receipt, and a passport-size photograph. You may also need to show an invitation letter from the inviter/sponsor, a return or onward ticket, and evidence of financial means to cover expenses for 30 days. Guyana does not have a published list of allowable business visitor activities; however, business activities are typically limited to attending meetings and exploring business opportunities. Short and infrequent trips may be permissible if you're conducting technical activities, such as training and inspections, but we recommend checking with your immigration professional for further details. If you intend to stay longer than 30 days in Guyana, you'll need a Work Permit, even if your activities are permissible under business visitor status.
- Work Authorization: If you're a visa national and receiving a visa-on-arrival, you are eligible for the Work Permit. If you're visa-exempt, you must first enter Guyana with an approved Permit to Land. This is usually valid for a single entry within six months of issuance and allows a stay for up to three months. This route allows you to commence work while processing your Work Permit application.
- Internships/Traineeships: Contact your immigration professional for trainee-specific work authorization options.
- Self-employment: Contact your immigration professional for work authorization options dedicated to potential investors or entrepreneurs.
Fragomen can also consult on citizenship matters and, as permitted within the confines of local law, may be able to offer citizenship assistance.
