About The Bahamas
Whether you’re looking to visit, live or work in the Bahamas—we can support your immigration needs at every stage of your journey.
If you're a foreign national looking to visit, live, and/or work in the Bahamas, several options are available.
- Business Visits: As a business visitor, depending on your citizenship, you'll generally enter the Bahamas without a visa or will need to secure an Electronic Entry Visa before you travel. Business visitors are generally limited to a two-week stay to conduct business or attend client meetings where there is no financial gain; you will need to notify the Department of Immigration or the Airport Superintendent of Immigration in the Bahamas 72 hours before you travel.
- Work Authorization: The main work authorization categories are (1) the Short-Term Work Permit, generally issued for up to 30 or up to 90 days and extendable for a maximum consecutive stay of 90 days; and (2) the Long-Term Work Permit, granted for stays up to three years, renewable indefinitely.
- Internships/Traineeships: There is no trainee-specific work authorization category in the Bahamas.
- Self-employment and/or self-sponsored: If you're an investor or financially independent individual and purchase a residence in the Bahamas for BSD 1,000,000.00 or more, you can apply for permanent residence. If you purchase a residence for BSD 1.5 million or more, your application will generally be processed faster.
Fragomen can also consult on citizenship matters and, as permitted within the confines of local law, may be able to offer citizenship assistance.
