About Vietnam

Whether you’re looking to visit, live or work in Vietnam—we can support your immigration needs at every stage of your journey.

If you’re a foreign national looking to visit, live, and/or work in Vietnam, several options are available.

  • Business Visits: To visit Vietnam on business, you'll typically require a business visa. The business visa generally permits a stay of up to three months depending on your citizenship and the issuing consular post. A tourist visa is not appropriate for business activities. Depending on your citizenship, you may be eligible for the e-visa program.
  • Work Authorization: The primary category of work authorization is the Work Permit; it is usually granted for up to two years. The application process can take up to 120-180 days, barring delays, because of extensive document requirements.
  • Internships/Traineeships: There is no trainee-specific work authorization category in Vietnam. If you're traveling to Vietnam as a trainee or an intern, you may generally enter the country on a business visa provided your stay doesn't exceed 90 days in a 12-month period. As a business visa holder, you should limit your activities to meetings and training.
  • Self-employment: If you're an investor or a representative of a foreign organization investing in Vietnam, the Investor (DT) Visa may be an option. As a DT Visa holder, you may apply for a temporary residence card, which allows you to operate a business and stay in Vietnam as long as your residence card remains valid.

Fragomen can also consult on citizenship matters and, as permitted within the confines of local law, may be able to offer citizenship assistance.
