The End of COVID-19 I-9 Document Inspection Flexibility – Physical Document Inspections Must be Completed by August 30, 2023.
The ICE COVID-19 flexibility policy allowing employers to utilize remote or virtual inspection of documents to complete the I-9 form is ending on July 31, 2023. ICE has announced that it will provide employers until August 30, 2023 to complete physical inspections of employee documents for all employees whose I-9 forms were previously completed using virtual or remote document review, regardless of whether the employer is operating, or the employee is working, entirely remotely.
