Vietnam: Updates on the Expanded Multiple-Entry E-Visa Program

As previously announced, the Vietnam government has started offering an e-Visa that is valid for up to 90 days with multiple entries, replacing the previous 30-day, single-entry option. In a recent development, the Vietnam government announced that the e-Visa will be available to passport holders of all countries and territories, not just a select few. Foreign nationals can benefit from a longer duration of stay and greater flexibility with the extended e-Visa validity of up to 90 days and multiple entries, increasing their travel convenience in Vietnam. These changes are in line with the Vietnam government’s overarching goal of promoting tourism (as part of its strategy to stimulate the economy). It is currently unclear, however, how the new e-Visa system will operate in practice (i.e., if additional steps may be necessary) for applications for business and/or work permit-exempt activities, particularly for individuals who were not on the list of nationals eligible to apply under the previous 30-day e-Visa.  Fragomen is closely monitoring the situation and will report on further developments.
