If you’re a foreign national looking to visit, live, and/or work in Paraguay, several options are available.
- Business Visits: As a business visitor and depending on your citizenship, you'll generally require a tourist/nonresident visa, valid for 90 days, and extensions are available up to 180 days in a 12-month period.
- Work Authorization: The main work authorization categories are: Short-Term Residence (Residencia Ocasional o Espontánea), valid for up to 90 days and renewable once for the same period; Temporary Residence, valid for two years and renewable for the same period; and Permanent Residence.
- Internships/Traineeships: There is no trainee or intern-specific work authorization category.
- Self-employment: If you're an investor or entrepreneur, you may qualify for an Investor Certification (Constancia del Inversionista). This is intended for individuals investing at least USD 70,000 in a Paraguayan business (verified via a sworn declaration) and generating five jobs.
Fragomen can also consult on citizenship matters and, as permitted within the confines of local law, may be able to offer citizenship assistance.
